Round Breakdown

The tracks encompass those who have selected the tracks of Consumer Goods & Services, Business Goods & Services, Social Innovation, Health & Life Sciences, Food Innovation, or Democracy Innovation. Participants in this track will compete in three rounds. 

Below are the requirements for each round.

Customer Discovery Challenge Requirements

   NEW CUSTOMER DISCOVERY CHALLENGE   
This Challenge takes place this Fall - (OPTIONAL) Before Round 1
 
Want the chance to win extra for your venture?
  • Complete 10 Customer Discovery Interviews and get them reviewed by a Mentor-in-Residence to be eligible for a special Customer Discovery prize.
  • Compete against a smaller pool of teams and advance your venture for future rounds by working with a mentor early. This challenge also serves as preparation for Pitch George, another way to win extra prize money!
  • Attend the October 9 Innovator's Academy Session on the Fundamentals of Customer Discovery for more information and to learn how to sign up!

Round 1 Requirements

BUSINESS THESIS:

Your team should be able to clearly explain the WHO, WHAT, and WHY behind your venture idea:

  • WHO is your customer or target audience?
  • WHAT problem are you solving, and what is your proposed solution?
  • WHY does this problem matter, and why is your solution valuable?

Round 1 is an online application.

We recommend participating in Innovator’s Academy to help you develop and strengthen your venture idea before applying. Learn more here.
